Central dural venous thrombosis presenting with lateral rectus palsy in pregnancy

Background: Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVT) is a rare neurological emergency that occurs more often among women during pregnancy and puerperium than the general population. Isolated cranial nerve palsies are uncommon in pregnant abducens palsy extremely rare. Methods: We report case of woman with hypothyroidism gestational diabetes mellitus at 32+3 weeks gestation who was diagnosed hypertension 2 prior to presentation lateral rectus palsy.Conclusions: Therapeutic guidelines for CVT difficult establish, as incidence If patient presents new persistent headache abnormalities on neurologic examination pregnancy, obstetricians neurologists should consider CVT, MRI be performed immediately.
